I'm going nuts! "Still Got the Blues" sounds a lot like some song
(Lionel Ritchie maybe) I heard years ago. Help please.
Thanks

All of his songs sound like somebodyelses something or other.

I like him and I like his blues albums but nearly every blues song of
his is a patchwork of allusions to other songs.

Personally, I wish I could crank em out as well as he does :)

You mean like Robbie Williams ripping "I will survive"?

The chord changes for the verse are used in many songs, like Europa and for
that matter Autumn Leaves.
Gotta love Moore though :-)

...and "The Loner" , and "Pictures of the Moon", and about one track off
every album he's done. He calls it "That old cycle of fifths thing" and is
quite up front about it in interviews.

But isn't that a circle of 4ths? eg: Am to D, then D to G,
G to C and so on.... Aren't these 4ths? 5ths would be
Am to E, then E to B, etc. Or am I missing something?

Yes, it's the circle of fifths in one direction (clockwise perhaps)
and fourths the other diection.

Gary Moore's style is definitely recognizable. Just like Steve Ray Vaughan,
BB King, SO Top etc. As soon as you hear a few seconds from them.....they
are recognizable. Therefore, there are familiar patterns between songs.

Dude,

Gary Moore isn't "like" Stevie Ray, BB King, etc, hes BETTER than
them. Think about it: Gary can play blues with the very best, but he
was also in THIN LIZZY!!! Can you imagine BB King in 'Lizzy?

I can't either.

Yeah. Stevie Ray won't even step up to the plate and jam with him either.
Bastard!!

Is it the song Hello by Lionel? The one where in the video, he's with
a blind woman. I haven't heard it in years but I think the chord
progression might be about the same.
