I know he kept it real basic, but does anyone know exactly what he used,
as far as amps, settings, etc? I know he used Fender Strats, but were
they hot-rodded in any way with high-performance pickups or anything
like that? Much appreciated!!

I believe he used simply a Fender Twin Reverb. No effects or anything,
he just plugged straight into the amp. His Strats were also stock. He
might have upgraded his equipment late in his life, but I didn't really
follow him after about 1984.

Vox AC-30.
Sometimes, yes, but he probably used ano original '50s Fender Bassman
more often on the road. (The only effects pedal he used in his '70s
heyday, by the way, was a Rangemaster treble booster.)

Fender twin for recording and ac30 for live.
full treble on the fender same on the vox , volume about half.
I read that someplace, it should sound rory with a strat.
Agressive fingers are needed, in any case.

I have a video clip of Rory playing 'Souped Up Ford' with a Black Tele/maple
fretboard. Its from his appearance on The Old Grey Whistle Test in 1976. I
tell you, this clip is just a delight to view. If anyone loves Rory you have
GOT to get this clip (113 mb ). I got it off a P2P....look around. He
absolutely
explodes on stage and the band is throttled. The best part is watching how
much fun Rory has playing. He truly loved it and it shows. In fact, when the
show ends, Rory plays on for another 13 minutes. The crowd roars at the end.
Just great. God, I miss him!

He used a 3 amp set up, Vox AC-30, Fender Tweed Bassman or Twin, and a
50 watt Marshall combo.

I read somewhere he had one of the first strats to arrive to Ireland and it
was a stock one.

Now that I think of it, he plays a tele in the Isle of Wight festival.

I know he also played a 1960 gibson melody maker at times. Exactly the
same as the one I have. Loading Image... MK

His guitar was dead stock..Im not sure about this but I think he had a 62
and a 65 he used mostly....altho, many times he was playing that old beat up
62/63......amps were AC 30's...at any given time he used 2 amps up to 4
amps....volume wide open...use your guitar knob.

Do you remember if it said he was daisy-chaining his amps together or not?

In view of how long ago this was, I dont think there was any other
way...other than jumping/daisy-chain..
Try a google search for Rory...using that, you can prob. learn more about
him and his setup......good luck.....JMsDvd
